BREATHING

How does the breathing work ?

Some muscles involved in breathing

- diaphragm (the most important)
- intercostal muscles and serratus  anterior
- abdominal muscles
- pelvic floor muscles

Alteration of the function of the respiratory muscles possible by:

- excessive demand for oxygen
- structural deformations
- an increase in the resistance to the passage of air in the respiratory tracts

The diaphragm

This muscle separates the ribcage and the abdomen. He got an influence on the viscera, the abdomen and the intestinal organs.
- Primary function: respiratory (ribcage extension during inhalation) and postural
- weakened by: age, chronical cough, obesity, stress, nicotine, heavy load carrying

Intercostal muscles and serratus anterior

- external intercostal muscles function: lifting and chest expansion during inhalation, specially when this one is deep and forced.

- Internal intercostal muscles function: forced exhalation (lowering the ribs).

-Serratus  anterior function (one of the inspiratory muscles the most powerful): elevation of the ribs, pulls the ribs backward and outward, opening of the Charpy angle.

Abdominal muscles

They mainly contract during a forced exhalation:
- the transverse brings the ribs inward
- the obliques descend from the ribs
- the rectus abdominis (also called "rectus abdominis" or "rectus abdominis")

Ribcage Movement during respiration

On the LPF program…

The following will benefit to an improved breathing:

- diaphragm massage

- diaphragm stretching

- shoulders stretching

- diaphragmatic movement during apnea

- chest breathing against resistance

The LPF allows you to work:

- proprioception and respiration: rib cage expansion exercises, sternum elevation exercises, thoracic myofascial release exercises, respiratory strengthening exercises

- pulmonary capacity: by adjusting the respiratory cycles, their frequency, their intensity and also by adjusting the duration of apnea

The progression will be at the pace of the student according to his level.

The regulation and improvement of your respiratory parameters are guaranteed!
